Boats Guide

Foreign Climes for a musical experience - and others.

Once again the passage of time highlights the tenacity with which I avoid putting finger to keyboard in order to keep this blog informed. Regular readers, all six of you, will know that it usually takes some kind of unusual event to stimulate my digital exercise and that is exactly the case now. I have for some time being listening to a Spanish musician (or more accurately as he would have it, a Galician musician), Carlos Nunez. bagpipes (of all shapes and sizes), recorders, whistles and a number of other things which are best described as tubes with holes in which produce sound after blowing down one end. Carlos Nunez is a skilled musician, a showman and a kind of Pied Piper character. He strikes poses, rouses audiences and produces a unique blend of Celtic music from Spain, France, Ireland, Scotland and wherever there are Celts with their music. He highlights the links between the Celtic countries using music and he does it very successfully. By now you get the idea that I like to listen to his music. So, as a departure from the safe predictability of our boat, car and house, I purchased two tickets, online, for a concert he was giving in Bilbao, Spain on the 15th December. I also booked a hotel and airline tickets without ever having to leave my chair. My innocent, unknowing spouse and I were to be whisked away to Spain for a concert. and then whisked back again. However, we got there, we listened, we went sight-seeing and we returned. We left on the 14th December and drove to Heathrow, parked the car (also booked online) and entered Terminal 3 after a short "courtesy" bus journey. I'm not sure what the "courtesy" bit means. Certainly the driver was polite but let us be clear, we paid for the bus journey. By-passing the technical stuff, like check-in (which I had done on an app), security (which required me to remove my shoes - the wife says they will never ask me to do that again) and queuing, I have to mention the shops. Or is it outlets. They do what shops do, but they are called outlets. There are shops inside the terminal from which you could buy almost anything you can think of and some things which you would never think of - particularly just prior to boarding a plane. Presently, I do not possess a wristwatch. Conceivably, I suppose it is possible that I could wander through Terminal 3, see a Wristwatch Outlet and decide to purchase one to accompany me on my travels. That's right, the Wristwatch Outlet was a Rolex shop. I have to wonder, how many do they sell in a day. Wander past Boots, from where you have just purchased your Prawn Tikka sandwich and carton of fresh Coconut juice. swallow the last little piece of sarnie, wash it down with the dregs in the carton, wipe your hands discreetly on the seat of your pants and then meander into the Rolex Shop and purchase a nice little number to accompany your travels - a snip at... I don't think so. Who buys them. Shoes was another item that left me a little puzzled. Not just any old shoes. This Shoe Outlet sells shoes that one could sell second-hand and bail out the government with it's rising National Debt. If, and the conditional is important here, if one was to go away on holiday and one had forgotten to pack a pair of essential shoes, then I can see the benefit of the airport maintaining a shoe shop (Footwear Outlet) within it's shiny, noisy... The shoes they sell are made by Gambavittodolcespicegirlchanel. handmade by 110 year old cobblers in a tiny Italian village halfway up a mountain at the top of which is produced a very rare cheese. The cheese has been produced for 4 centuries and no-one has ever heard of it. the shoes have been going since May and they have reached the airport best seller list. Who buys them. Finally, whilst I'm on the Terminal 3 rant. I like oysters and I eat them fairly often. However, oysters indeed all shellfish have a reputation. One can be surprised by the unfriendly digestive effects of a rogue oyster or a dodgy mussel. A prawn beyond it's best will have you reaching for the welcoming arms of Mr Thomas Crapper in no time at all. So, why, in all the fires of hell, would anyone eat oysters minutes.

  1. The Queen Street West district in downtown Toronto is often referred to as one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the world. Hip retailers like Lululemon, Brandy
  2. A man entered a store in the first block of East Indiantown Road and selected three pairs of shoes. He then ran from the store without paying for them. Employees said he was inside for less than a minute. They were able to give officers a detailed
  3. Men's non-athletic comps were down low single digits on a comparable basis. Men's casuals, especially boat shoes and canvas footwear, experienced declines, but a low-single-digit increase was still seen in men's casual boots, driven primarily by hiking.
